Double-Shot Blog! ... Korean Praise Night!

This past sunday night after a delightful FREE asian new year (yes Korean people have the same new year as chinese peeps), I decided to attend a Korean Praise night to get a better idea of what is defined as a "praise night" in this area. As I mentioned in my previous post I am leading a praise night/rally of sorts for the youths around the area and I wanted to get a better grasp of what the worship leaders of this area are doing. I took some pictures with my camera phone (which is currently so SCREWED UP!!!) and I must have looked like a GOOF taking pictures in a praise night... lol!

But ya, well, the night went on quite interestingly enough. The team consisted of some people that will be on our youth praise nite worship team so it was great to be able to worship with them. There was an electric and acoustic guitarist, and a synth/piano worship leader. These guys pulled off a big sound with the aid of a small chorale (choir) and backing trax from iworship (I believe?) which supplied the bass and drums and extra sounds.

The night was full of lively praise and worship from korean christians of denominations of all kinds and consisted mainly of the 1 and 1.5 korean generation. I was quite happy that they had english words at the top as well so I could follow and worship along ;) The speaker spoke a biblical message on the power of the Holy Spirit and His transforming effect on our lives.

The Preacher Speaking From Acts...

There were also sections of the night devoted to prayer and many people prayed in very free and charasmatic manners in which I observed and joined in my own prayers to God (I pray mostly in my heart and mind, and on occasion pray out-loud holistically with all my body). It was just a great time to pray, worship and listen to the word (even though I was SUPER TIRED).

After this experience of their praise night, I have to say there is not much difference to this kind of praise night and the korean praise nights back at home in Toronto. Korean Baptists here are just as charasmatic as korean Christians back at home (whom I usually associate with presbyterian church). After some reflection time that night I realized just how this was a little peace of heaven's worship of God. Me... and chinese english-speaking individual was able to worship with a Korean congregation, in praising the Lord! I hope there can me more and more of glimpses of all the "nations" bowing down together to worship the Lord!

I am hopeful I can plan this youth praise night with all diligence and excellence as I possibly can for God. This next generation needs a good starting point, and I hope it can possibly start there if it is in God's will. I envision the revival of God's people here similarly to the Toronto Chinese Youth rallies of the 90s... But ah... to remind myself that only GOD starts revival in the hearts of His people and the church will be on my mind for the next month... Please pray for us...

Hey Shu,

I have "Genesis 24" and BOTH the full band and solo acoustic rendition of "Simple" on my MP3 player and it pops up every so often :p Do this in remembrance of you :p

God's been doing amazing things in the city of Toronto and the surrounding areas, no worries :D God is good!

When Passion was in Toronto, Louie shared a bit about the history of the Ricoh Coliseum and how the country's leaders (100 years ago, I think), gathered on that ground and read the verse:
"12And they will call them, "The holy people, The redeemed of the LORD"; And you will be called, "Sought out, a city not forsaken."" -- Isaiah 62:12

Pray that Toronto will be a city that'll follow that out!

Best wishes for the upcoming youth praise night :) With Christ as the centre, everything will go perfectly :D

It's also nice to see you put a picture up of CC05! Nice to see that you didn't disown us :p

Later dude,
I am not, but I know I AM,
C Luk
