Don't Let My Spirit Sleep...

This past sunday I stumbled onto one of the most inspiring worship songs I have ever heard. Ever hear of Aaron Shust? Neither have I... til now :p
Well it seems in the ol' Southern Baptist Convention they have a sort of youth gathering called centrifuge, mission gatherings called m-fuge, and just "fuges" for everything. The korean church people went to this retreat/event thing and they heard this song way before I even came to the church and this past sunday we lead this song in worship. Go to his website and listen to "My Savior My God" and here are the lyrics to the song:

My Savior My God
Aaron Shust

I am not skilled to understand
what God has willed, what God has planned
I only know at His right hand
Stands one who is my Savior

I take Him at His word and Deed
Christ died to save me: this I read
and in my heart I find a need
of Him to be my Savior

That He would leave His place on high
and come for sinful man to die
You count it strange, so once did I
Before I knew my Savior

My Savior Loves, my Savior lives
My Savior's always there for me
My God: He was, my God: He is
My God is always gonna be

Yes living, dying: let me bring
My strength, my solace from this spring:
That He who lives to be my king
Once died to be my Savior

These lyrics have been ringing thru my head for a while. I love the way this guy writes his music, I think I will buy his cd if I get a chance ;) I'll leave you all with this quote from Aaron during a dryspell of songwriting... (which I can relate to whole-heartedly):

"Give me words to speak, don't let my spirit sleep, cause I can't think of anything worth saying."

He added this part recently:

"Give me words to speak, don't let my spirit sleep, cause I can't think of anything worth saying. But I know that I owe You my life. So give me words to speak. Don't let my spirit sleep."
-Aaron Shust

All I can say is... ... ...wow.

Thanks so much for puting "My Savior" on your site. I just got home from work and was singing this song to my husband to see if he knew who sang it or wrote it. I love it and want to practice it for worship team. I just typed in the words and your site came up. God bless
Sandy
